How to look healthy

There are many different aspects that contribute to ‘looking our best,’ including what we’re wearing, how well-groomed we are, and so on. But perhaps the thing that has the biggest impact is how healthy we look. This is weirdly underrated, yet makes a huge difference!

Of course, having that healthy glow isn’t as easy as putting on a nice outfit. It takes time. But there are a few things you can do that’ll push things in the right direction. Let’s take a look at a few of these things below.

Work up a sweat

There are many reasons why you should make a habit of putting on your running shoes and going for a jog. You will literally become healthier, but it’ll also have a positive impact on your appearance. This happens in various ways.

Of course, you’ll lose any additional weight that you’ve been carrying, which will have you looking slimmer and better. But it’ll also have a positive impact on your overall appearance. People who work out seem to have that energetic glow, both in terms of their skin and their body in general.

Plus, exercise helps to release endorphins (the chemical which makes you happy) into your body, so you’ll also be smiling more! If you don’t have time to exercise, then look at using your body throughout the day — even taking the stairs rather than the elevator will make a difference.

Focus on your skin

You could have the best outfit around, but if your skin is looking tired and lifeless, then you’re not going to look as good as you could do. Indeed, the quality of your skin plays a bigger role in your attractiveness than you may realise. Healthy skin can represent a healthy body and mind!

So if your skin isn’t what it could be, then take a look at making some improvements. This could involve handling any skin complaints; if you have psoriasis, for example, then look at using Grahams natural creams to help combat the issue.

Switching to a natural beauty routine and using organic beauty products is another great way to nourish your skin and avoid harmful toxins.

If your skin is generally clear, but just looks a little ‘flat,’ then you can give it some life by limiting the number of toxins (such as alcohol) that you consume.  To look good on the outside, you need to be good on the inside!

Eat plenty of nutrient-rich fruits and veggies and avoid greasy junk food, high sodium and high added-sugar snacks.  Choosing a plant-based diet is a great way to clear up any inflammatory skin disorders such as acne or eczema.

Also, consider adding cold showers to your morning routine; they bring many benefits, including improving your circulation, which has a positive impact on your skin.

A good night’s sleep

They call it beauty sleep for a reason! A good night’s rest will help your skin to retain its elasticity, for starters, but it’ll also make a big difference to your eyes. It’s impossible to look your healthiest best if you have deep bags under your eyes!

If you have trouble sleeping, then look at making some changes. People seem to think that they’re destined to have trouble sleeping, but the problem is usually easily identifiable.

Making improvements to your bedroom, limiting your coffee intake, and avoiding technology in the hour before you hit the hay will all help to push things in the right direction.

Quit bad habits

Drinking too much alcohol or smoking aren’t just bad for your internal health, but they affect your external appearance too, such as your skin and hair.

As health.com explains: “Cigarette smoke contains carbon monoxide, which displaces the oxygen in your skin, and nicotine, which reduces blood flow, leaving skin dry and discolored.  Cigarette smoking also depletes many nutrients, including vitamin C, which helps protect and repair skin damage.”

There are so many benefits to quitting the cigs, including stopping premature aging of the skin. If you want to look healthy and youthful then you need to curb your addiction.  Quitting smoking can be quite a challenge, so you might first move to vaping before kicking the habit completely.  You can easily grab a vaping starter kit from an online vape store to start your journey to better health.

Regular and/or overconsumption of alcohol will also affect how healthy you look.  Alcohol has a dehydrating effect on the skin which emphasizes the appearance of any pores and wrinkles.  The high sugar content in some alcohols can contribute to inflammation and breakouts of acne.  If you want amazing skin then avoid drinking alcohol often.
