Growing old is truly a blessing and something none of us should ever regret. An inspiring quote I always remind myself of is, “Do not regret growing older. It is a privilege denied to many.”
That said, I may be about to contradict myself.
I will never regret growing older. I take pride in leading a healthy lifestyle—eating a plant-based diet with as much organic produce as possible and exercising every day. For me, these choices are about increasing my lifespan, staying active, and hopefully avoiding diseases caused by a sedentary lifestyle, toxins, or bad habits. They are about living a long, vibrant life and maintaining my energy as I age.
But there’s one thing about growing older that I struggle with.
The thing that bothers me most is how my face is aging. I hate seeing the visible signs of aging, like fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin, that seem to deepen each year. It’s not that I think growing older is bad—it’s a natural part of life—but I hate my aging face. It’s hard to see the changes in the mirror and not wish I could slow them down or reverse them.
While I try to embrace the natural process of aging, I know I’m not alone in feeling this way. Many of us want to hold on to a youthful appearance for as long as possible, and that’s perfectly okay.
So, How Can I Stop My Face From Aging?
There are many ways to help prevent the face from aging too quickly or prematurely. Personally, I prefer natural and organic skincare products including serums, especially those enriched with beneficial botanical ingredients, over harsh or toxic chemicals. I also like to keep my skincare routine as simple as possible. That said, it’s a personal thing for me—I hate my aging face. It’s not about being against aging itself, but I do wish I could slow the process or find ways to improve my skin naturally.
I always thought I would grow old with grace and learn to appreciate every wrinkle as a sign of experience and wisdom. But the truth is, they make me feel self-conscious. For me, it’s not about vanity—it’s about feeling good in my own skin. And if reducing the appearance of wrinkles or fine lines helps boost my confidence, I see no harm in exploring the wealth of knowledge on anti-aging available today.
Of course, if you’re happy and confident with how you’re aging, there’s no need to change a thing! We should all do whatever makes us personally happy and helps us feel our best, whether that’s embracing wrinkles or working to soften their appearance.
Now, let’s dive into my natural anti-aging tips!
1. Stop Smoking
This is probably my biggest factor when it comes to my skin aging prematurely as I am an ex-smoker. I smoked for ten years and I regret every single cigarette. I wish I had quit smoking sooner, or never started in the first place. Smoking cigarettes restricts blood flow which means the skin does not get enough oxygen and vital nutrients such as vitamin C.
This is terrible news for your skin which will begin to look dull and even yellowy. As the skin is not receiving nourishment it will begin to sag and wrinkle. There are numerous benefits to quitting smoking, but if you’re worried about getting wrinkles then let that be your motivation to quit.

2. Eat the Right Foods
It’s essential to provide your skin with the vitamins and minerals it needs to thrive. Our skin is the body’s largest organ, but it’s easy to overlook its importance when thinking about overall health. One of the best ways to support healthy skin is by eating a plant-based diet packed with colourful fruits and vegetables. These foods are full of antioxidants, vitamins, and nutrients that help combat the visible signs of aging.
If you’re like me and look in the mirror thinking, “I hate my aging face,” you might be wondering how to use nutrition to make a difference. A diet rich in skin-friendly foods can help improve skin elasticity, reduce inflammation, and promote a youthful glow. On the other hand, it’s wise to avoid refined sugar and processed carbohydrates including white bread, as these have been linked to premature skin aging and can accelerate the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

Squinting in the sun may seem harmless, but it causes your eye muscles to contract repeatedly. However, it’s worth noting that wearing sunglasses 100% of the time isn’t ideal. Despite the negative reputation sunlight often gets in mainstream media, the sun plays an important role in our overall health. So while sunglasses are a great tool for preventing squint lines, don’t forget to allow some sunlight to reach your eyes during safe hours to support your body’s natural rhythms and overall well-being.

Instead, they often contain plant-based, skin-loving ingredients such as aloe vera, chamomile, green tea, and rosehip oil, which are packed with antioxidants, vitamins, and hydration.
Vegan skincare products go one step further by excluding all animal-derived ingredients, making them a compassionate and environmentally friendly choice. Many vegan products also prioritise sustainable and cruelty-free practices, which means you can take care of your skin while caring for the planet.

There are so many ways we can help ourselves prevent the signs of aging through healthy lifestyle choices. But what are the options once we start to see those signs?
You can, of course, embrace aging by growing old gracefully. However, if your wrinkles greatly bother you or affect your confidence, you might want to explore some non-natural, non-invasive anti-wrinkle treatments such as Botox or fillers. These treatments offer fast results and can last for several months, helping to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles.
Botox, in particular, works by relaxing the muscles that cause repetitive movements, such as frowning or squinting, which can lead to deeper wrinkles over time. While these treatments are not natural, they can be effective in reducing the appearance of wrinkles and preventing new ones from forming.
