Best healthy foods to buy from UK food wholesalers

If you own a food shop, you know all about buying wholesale. However, if you are a standard consumer like me, thinking about buying wholesale isn’t usually on our minds. What if I told you that buying wholesale could save you both money and time? Now it sounds better, right?

There are actually many places you can buy wholesale food from even as a consumer, such as Springvale Foods, UK food wholesalers. This family-run business stocks a wide range of wholesale foods available for both business to business (B2B) and business to consumer (B2C). If you are searching for “food wholesalers near me” then Springvale Foods is a great place to start. As an online food wholesaler, they can deliver fine foods all across mainland UK (and further!).

As Really Missing Sleep mentions, Springvale Foods “specializes in sourcing and delivering delicious artisan foods, from cooking sauces and snacks to vegan treats and gluten-free foods. So, not only will you be able to get a variety of fabulous products but you will also be helping local companies.”

The great benefit of being able to shop healthy foods wholesale is you can save money!  Buying in bulk means the price per item, or per gram, is considerably lower than if you buy single items.  So, if you can afford to, then it’s worth your while to consider shopping in bulk using wholesalers that sell to consumers.  But what sorts of products are a good idea to start purchasing in bulk?  Here are some examples:

Best healthy foods to buy from UK food wholesalers

1. Dried Pasta.

Unlike fresh pasta, which needs to be cooked and eaten within a few days, dried pasta can be stored for years. For this reason (and the fact that pasta is delicious!), dried pasta is a staple in most pantries and a great option to buy wholesale.  Go for wholemeal pasta varieties for nutrition.

2. Dark Chocolate.

Did you know that dark chocolate can last up to two years if stored in its original packaging or wrapped tightly once opened? I can’t live without nibbling on some dark chocolate every now and then, so bulk buying chocolate is a great choice.

If you think that dark chocolate isn’t healthy – think again. According to Medical News Today, “Dark chocolate is rich in minerals, such as iron, magnesium, and zinc. The cocoa in dark chocolate also contains antioxidants called flavonoids, which may provide several health benefits.”

The trick is to buy dark chocolate with low (or no) added sugar and high cocoa (or cacao) content.

3. Oats.

You can have oats for breakfast, or you can use them for your favourite desserts – crumble, anyone? Oats are fantastic, versatile and will last ages in your cupboards. Plus, you can freeze overnight oats in containers for around three months to make them last even longer!

In an article about buying oats in bulk (a 25-pound bag of oats that lasts well over half of the year, to be exact!), Heavenly Homemakers shared her favourite part of buying in bulk. “My really favourite part about buying bulk bags is that it just makes life simpler for me. I don’t have to buy a little bag of rice or oats or pasta or whatever every month. I have lots of big bags of everything I need, giving me oh so many cooking options.”

4. Nuts.

Buying wholesale nuts is a great choice. Even though nuts in the shell last longer than shelled nuts, if these are stored in airtight containers, both types of nuts should last a long time in your cupboards. Evans Crittens recently spoke about Tooty Fruity, a brand of healthy snacks, including raw nuts and roasted nuts, which is available at Springvale Foods. She commented, “Nuts have always been my go-to snack. They are delicious, filling and high in energy.” And I can’t fault that! Nuts are a great snack and can be easily stored for months on end in your cupboards.

5. Tea.

Whether you prefer loose tea or in tea bags, dried tea leaves (if stored in sealed containers) can last a year or more. Just make sure you store your favourite tea away from moisture or humidity. Ready to bulk buy your Earl Grey or oolong tea? I know I am! I love always having my go-to green tea on my shelves, ready to sip or offer my guests.

Have you ever considered using a wholesaler to stock up on healthy foods to save time and money?

  1. I hadn’t thought of doing this before! I’ve bought household supplies and toiletries in bulk before, and I definitely agree that having a few months’ worth of something to hand can be a real weight off the mind.

  2. I usually order in bulk from Buy Wholefoods Online because if you spend over £20 you get free UK delivery. Plus if you sign up for their newsletter, they send you weekly offers e.g. spend £30 and get a free bag of raisins.
