6 skin rules you should never break

One thing that we all need to do is look after our skin. You need to make sure that your skin is refreshed and rejuvenated. If you don’t look after your skin, it can end up becoming wrinkled and dull. This is the last thing anyone wants. However, a lot of people make the mistake of only caring about skincare when it is too late. With that being said, below, we are going to take you through some of the important skincare rules that you should never break. We hope that this will give you a better understanding of how to care for your skin and what really matters when it comes to skincare health.

Rule #1 – Always check out the ingredients when purchasing skincare products

It does not matter whether you are looking for cleansers, moisturisers, or something different, you need to assess the ingredients carefully when purchasing a skincare product. After all, it is the ingredients that are going to make all of the difference when it comes to getting the health boost that you require from the product. If you are looking at the ingredients and you do not recognise anything, this is not usually a good sign, it indicates that the product is filled with chemicals, which could end up stripping your skin of the moisture it needs and ultimately doing more damage than good. If you are feeling unsure, simply research the ingredient list and this will tell you everything you need to know. This is one of the great benefits of buying skincare products online today, as you can research them carefully before you make your purchase. Your best bet is to switch to an all-natural skincare and beauty routine to avoid questionable ingredients that may be harmful. Nature knows best.

Rule #2 – Maintain a good exercise regime

Yes, exercising on a regular basis is important for your health and wellbeing. However, there are more benefits that you will get by exercising. One of the main benefits in terms of your skin is that exercising delivers oxygen to the skin, and so it is critical for your overall skin health. So, no matter whether you go for a run or join a dance class, you can have the boost of knowing that you are delivering many benefits to your body, including your skin.

Rule #3 – Do not sleep in makeup, ever

We are sure that you were expecting this rule to be on the list. We have all been there. You get home from a night out with your friends and the last thing you want to do is a skincare routine. Instead, you fall asleep, with makeup all over your face and false eyelashes hanging off, does this sound familiar? While you may think that one night won’t matter, it really does make a difference, so you should never sleep in your makeup. Before you go to bed, some micellar water and makeup wipes will only take a few seconds, and it will make a big difference. Plus, you will find that you have a much more comfortable and enjoyable sleep as well.

Rule #4 – Wear sunscreen every day, irrespective of the weather outside

This is one of the most critical skincare rules, but it is something that a lot of people do not follow – guilty! It’s recommend that we wear SPF 30 on a daily basis. If you can, SPF 50 is even better. This plays a critical role in preventing the likes of sunburn, wrinkles, skin cancer, and sun damage. Make sure you cover any exposed skin, including your hands, décolletage and face. You also need to ensure that you keep some sunscreen in your bag so that you can reapply it every few hours. A lot of people assume that this is something they are only going to need to do when the weather is hot outside, but this is not the case. Sunscreen is critical no matter whether it is cold or hot. Even if the weather is cold outside, the sun is still shining, despite the fact that it may not feel this way. When the sun is shining, damage can be done, and this is why it is of the utmost importance to make sure you wear sunscreen every day of the wear. Again, some sunscreens have questionable ingredients, so opt for a natural sunscreen and if you are going swimming in the sea then ensure it is coral reef safe too.

Rule #5 – Ensure your diet is filled with all of the good stuff

Aside from the different rules that we have mentioned so far, it is also important to make sure that you are getting all of the nutrition that your skin needs. We all know that eating junk food every day is not going to do any favours to our skin. However, if you make sure your diet is a balanced and consistent one, which is filled with vegetables and fruit, you can help to protect your skin. You do need to be mindful about your sugar consumption, though, as sugar can trigger acne. Tomatoes are great for your skin as well, as they are rich in lycopene, lutein, beta-carotene, alpha-carotene, and vitamins K, C, B, and A. There are a lot of other foods that have some excellent benefits as well. Vitamin A is critical for your skin’s health, and you will find this in abundance in kale. In fact, kale is packed to the brim with antioxidants that can help to slow down the process of ageing, which is why kale is considered a superfood for skin health. Olive oil can also be extremely beneficial when it comes to restoring the elasticity in your skin, as it contains the likes of vitamin A and E.

Rule #6 – Don’t squeeze your spots

Last but not least, we simply cannot talk about skincare rules without mentioning squeezing spots. We know that a lot of people like to squeeze their spots. Some people do so because they do not like the appearance of a yellow pimple on their face, whereas others actually enjoy spot squeezing! Whatever the reason may be, you should avoid it, and we will explain the reasons why. A pimple is like a small bag under the skin that contains inflammation, bacteria, and oil. When you squeeze a spot, this can cause all of these contents to end up being pushed into the skin around the pimple, which will only make the problem worse. Furthermore, it can cause the skin around the area to become darker and it can result in an infection. If that was not bad enough, the inflammation can end up becoming so severe that scarring is left behind once the spot has finally started to settle down. Unlike the spot itself, the scarring can be permanent which is why it makes sense to avoid squeezing spots altogether and instead allow them to heal on their own. You can always use some concealer to cover up the spot if you are embarrassed by the appearance of it. But there really is no need to be; we all get them.

Happy skin 🙂

So there you have it: everything you need to know about the different skincare rules that you should never break. When it comes to looking after your skin and ensuring that you are happy with what you see when you look in the mirror, the different rules and tips that we have provided above can make a monumental difference. A lot of people underestimate how important little things like wearing sunscreen on a daily basis and exercising can make when it comes to looking after our skin. If you abide by the instructions we have provided above, we can assure you that you will be doing an awful lot when it comes to your skin health.
