5 of the best vegan restaurants in Cheltenham and Gloucester

1. The Golden Heart, Birdlip

One of our favourite places to go for a delicious and hearty homemade pub lunch. A beautiful 16th century traditional Cotswold inn with log burners. They don’t just have a couple of vegan options, oh no, they have an entire vegan menu full of delicious meals from burgers to roasts. We love their food so much we’ve booked to have Christmas dinner there this year.

2. Vinnie’s Eatery, Cheltenham

I’ve done a whole review of Vinnie’s Eatery on this blog before as it’s so good! It’s Cheltenham’s first plant based restaurant! I love they don’t use refined sugar in their cooking either, or at least they didn’t when I asked them before. They make everything from scratch and even have the most delicious range of vegan cakes sweetened with plant syrups and using ingredients such as coconut cream and cashews. I had a gift voucher for my recent birthday and I’m hoping to go for dinner soon, being the only meal I haven’t tried there yet.

Update – sadly it looks like Vinnie’s Eatery might now be closed since 2021?  Let me know in the comments if you are local and know!

5 of the best vegan restaurants in Cheltenham and Gloucester - Fat Tonis

Delicious vegan pizza at Fat Toni’s.  I’m drooling just looking at it!

3. Fat Toni’s, Cheltenham

Fat Toni’s make the biggest pizzas and have a huge selection of vegan toppings including vegan cheese. They have a vegan chef and love to cater for alternative diets. When asked they told me the bases don’t contain added sugar, so that’s another big tick for those of us who try to avoid refined and added sugars. You can get takeaway from their Stroud and Gloucester stores, but I recommend a visit to the Cheltenham restaurant to experience a piping hot pizza!

4. Portivo Lounge, Gloucester

We love The Lounges! They have a full vegan menu with everything from tapas to curry to jackfruit burgers! We’ve visited lounges in Gloucester, Cirencester, Swansea, Newquay and Bristol. Oh, and the Cosy Club in Cheltenham.  We can always rely on them for unique tasty vegan food wherever we are. They always have vegan options for the kids too.  The decor is so cool and quirky and right up my street.  This has a great setting, so you can wonder around the historic Gloucester Docks after.

5 of the best vegan restaurants in Cheltenham and Gloucester - Beetballs Zizzi

Beetballs at Zizzi – delicious!

5. Zizzi, Cheltenham and Gloucester

Zizzi is our go to chain pizzeria as it has an extensive vegan menu including their new beet-balls and huge rustica pizzas with vegan mozzarella! We love to change our Tesco points for vouchers worth 3x our points, so we regularly eat at Zizzi’s and don’t have a penny to pay! Their vegan cheese is so creamy! The Cheltenham restaurant is highly recommended as its in an old picturesque church building and is absolutely stunning.
