CBD is a supplement I have been using daily since the end of October 2019, so over six months now, to ease symptoms of stress, anxiety and depression. I mainly suffer with these symptoms throughout the winter months when they amplify due to Seasonal Affective Disorder.

What is CBD?

CBD is short for cannabidiol. It’s a cannabinoid from the cannabis plant.

The cannabis has over 100 types of cannabinoid and CBD is just one of them.

Another cannabinoid that you might be more familiar with is THC. THC is a psychoactive compound which makes people high, usually by smoking marijuana. However, CBD is not psychoactive.

When people hear cannabis they might immediately think of ‘getting high’, but that’s only caused by the THC in the plant. Cannabis actually has many other uses!

What does taking CBD do?

CBD works with our bodies to maintain homeostasis. We all have an endocannabinoid system (ECS) that the cannabinoids work with to regulate this internal balance.

What is CBG?

I’ll be honest. CBG is a new one to me! I knew there were numerous cannabinoids in the cannabis plant, but CBD has been the one that’s so far had all the hype and got the nation excited.

It now looks like the benefits of another cannabinoid called CBG are being realised and CBG oils are now on the market.

CBG stands for cannabigerol.

Cannabigerol is the stem cell of CBD and all the other cannabinoids in the cannabis plant. This means CBD starts its life as CBG!

What does taking CBG do?

CBG is still undergoing much research, but it is showing many promising health benefits. Here are some of the potential benefits of CBG from scientific studies:

Herts Hemp review

Due to the anxiety, stress and relieving properties I had already experienced from CBD oil and the potential mood boosting appeal of CBG oil, I agreed to try some cannabis oils from Herts Hemp.
